Ubuntu Remote Connect on DGX Spark: SSH, Desktop Sharing, and Remote Login
Published 10/05/2026
Description
In this video I show how I connect remotely to an NVIDIA DGX Spark running Ubuntu, starting from a Windows user perspective where MSTSC is still my preferred way to access remote machines. 0:00 - Introduction 0:08 - Description 0:51 - SSH 1:07 - Desktop Sharing 5:36 - Remote Login 11:09 - Conclusion I begin with the simplest option: SSH, which is the quickest and most reliable way to get into the system for administration and command-line work. Then I move to Ubuntu Desktop Sharing, explain how it works, what its limitations are, and why it only really helps when someone is already logged in to the machine. After that, I dive into Ubuntu Remote Login through MSTSC, where things become more interesting. I cover the real-world quirks that appear when connecting from Windows to Ubuntu over RDP, including the difference between Desktop Sharing and Remote Login, the two-step authentication flow, saved credential issues, and the warning around redirection and insecure connection prompts. Ubuntu’s Desktop Sharing attaches to an existing logged-in desktop, while Remote Login creates a remote sign-in flow with its own behavior and extra authentication steps. So this is not just a quick “click here and it works” demo. It is a practical walkthrough of what works well, what breaks, and what you should expect when using SSH, Desktop Sharing, and Remote Login on a DGX Spark with Ubuntu from a Windows client. #DGXSpark #Ubuntu #RemoteDesktop Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell for more content.
