TrueNAS doesn’t ship with antivirus out of the box, which also means you’re not locked into any single vendor—you can choose what fits your environment.​ In this video, I show how to use ClamAV on TrueNAS (via Apps/Docker) and then automate the whole workflow from “first scan” to ongoing monitoring.​ What you’ll see, step by step: Install ClamAV and do the initial configuration. Run a baseline scan to validate paths, performance, and expected results. Schedule recurring scans with cron. Wrap the scan in a script that sends email alerts when something is detected. Add quarantine handling to move/contain suspicious files safely. Upgrade from periodic scanning to near real-time monitoring with inotify.
